ARCHIVED - Brit held over death of bouncer at Costa del Sol restaurant is released but has passport withdrawn
The 32-year-old was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after a doorman died breaking up a fight at Olivia's La Cala
A British man arrested in connection with the death of a doorman at a restaurant in La Cala, Malaga, owned by former TOWIE star, Elliott Wright, has been provisionally released and had his passport withdrawn.
Venezuelan-born bouncer, Jose Rafael Pisani Pardo, 55, died of severe head injuries sustained trying to break up a fight during the early hours of Sunday. The bodybuilder and personal trainer was reportedly pushed or punched during the altercation and was rushed to ICU in Malaga but died shortly afterwards.
A manhunt was launched for the "attacker" and on Monday, at around 2pm, footage emerged of the 32-year-old Briton identified as HGJ.S being arrested in Mijas by officers from an elite, rapid action Guardia Civil group called GAR.
He appeared before Fuengirola Magistrate's Court number 2 on Wednesday, charged with reckless homicide and a crime against public health after drugs were found during a search of his home.
The duty judge ordered his provisional release while the investigation continues. The Briton must appear at the court on the 1st of each month in the meantime and he is prohibited from leaving the country after his passport was withdrawn.
