British man, 40, dies while walking his dog in southern Spain
The young man collapsed while strolling on a beach in Huelva, Andalucía
Tragedy struck the Andalusian province of Huelva over the weekend when a 40-year-old British man collapsed and died while walking his dog.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim was taking a leisurely stroll along Los Enebrales beach in Punta Umbria, which is very close to the border with Portugal, when he fell to the ground suddenly.
The emergency services were quickly on the scene but sadly were unable to save him. Rescue staff spent an agonising half an hour trying to resuscitate the victim but he passed away shortly after going into cardiac arrest.
A post-mortem is expected to be carried out on Monday May 6 to determine the exact cause of death of the Briton, who hasn’t yet been named. It’s understood the authorities identified the man through the details of his dog’s microchip, as he wasn’t carrying any documents himself.
Often described as one of the top nudist beaches in southern Spain, the 2.3-kilometre span of Los Enebrales beach attracts thousands of visitors each year keen to enjoy its crystal-clear turquoise waters and soft golden sands surrounded by verdant juniper and pine woodlands.
Meanwhile, on the party island of Ibiza, another unfortunate incident occurred last week involving yet another British tourist. The 28-year old visitor sustained severe injuries after being struck by a lorry on the road connecting San José and Ibiza Town. Hospital reports indicate that the victim suffered significant trauma to the head, chest and back, resulting in multiple fractured ribs.
Also recently, a 40-year-old British national narrowly escaped death after jumping from a cliff-side viewpoint in Tenerife and crashing into the rocks below, badly damaging his legs.
