British man goes on trial in Malaga for breaking into house to take a shower
The UK citizen faces a year behind bars and will be expected to pay compensation to the Costa del Sol homeowner

An unnamed British man has been put on trial in Malaga this week for breaking into a city centre home almost two years ago and taking a shower.
The unusual event was reported in October 2021. According to the National Police, the Briton, who was feeling unwell at the time, slipped into the lobby of an apartment complex in the Costa del Sol city shortly after dawn. When he noticed one of the front doors was ajar he stepped inside and began riffling through closets in search of clean clothes.
The man then went to the bathroom and took a shower but minutes later, the owner of the home, who had just popped outside briefly, returned and caught him in the act. She immediately called the authorities to report a home invasion and the Briton was arrested.
More than a year and a half later, the man was before a judge on Monday and Tuesday, July 3 and 4, accused of trespassing and entering the woman’s home without permission.
The Prosecutor’s Office is asking for a prison term of one year and has demanded that the UK citizen pay the woman compensation of 500 euros for moral damages.
