ARCHIVED - British drug kingpin caught in Fuengirola
The fugitive wanted in the UK for drug trafficking showed a fake Belgian ID to police when he was arrested in the Málaga town this week
A 39-year-old British man was arrested in Fuengirola in Málaga province on Monday November 22 for drug trafficking and forgery of documents.
Agents from Group III of the Narcotics and International Relations Unit arrested the Brit in a shopping centre in Fuengirola after an International Arrest Warrant was issued for his capture.
The suspect allegedly played a leading role – together with his brother – in leading an organised crime network dedicated to cocaine trafficking. He has been wanted by the authorities for a drug trafficking offence since August of this year, having been tried in France for his alleged participation in drug trafficking as leader of a criminal organisation which is dedicated to the large-scale importation of extremely pure cocaine.
He was also charged with forgery of documents, as he used a Belgian identity card to identify himself to police.
The fugitive has now been placed at the disposal of the Central Court of Instruction number five of the Audiencia Nacional.
