Train passengers travelling between Seville and Malaga will face a temporary change of plans later this summer, as Renfe is putting on 102 buses to cover the route while essential track works are carried out.

 

The disruption will last for three days, from Friday August 22 to Sunday August 24, and will affect all medium-distance conventional services running between the two cities. The work is being carried out by Adif, Spain’s Railway Infrastructure Manager, as part of a project to improve the hydraulic capacity of the line.

 

In total, 34 train services will be impacted: 12 on the Thursday, 10 on Friday and 12 on Saturday. Buses will cover the full route between Seville and Malaga, as well as all intermediate stops, with the exception of Bobadilla and El Chorro-Caminito del Rey, where taxis will be provided instead.

 

Renfe confirmed in a statement that the buses will depart from and arrive at Seville’s San Bernardo and Dos Hermanas stations, and passengers travelling to or from Bellavista, Virgen del Rocío, Álora and Las Mellizas will still be able to access the rest of the line using Cercanías and Proximidad local train services.

 

The rail operator says it has boosted its customer service and communications channels to keep travellers informed about the changes. Messages are being shared both online and at stations, and anyone planning to travel during those dates is advised to check the details at www.renfe.com.
