Cloudy, calima-filled skies and a chance of muddy rain this weekend: Alicante weather forecast March 19-22
Cloud and muddy rain are expected to move in towards the end of the week, bringing cooler temperatures before conditions gradually improve

After a bright and settled start to the week, things are set to take a turn for the worse across Alicante province as we head into the weekend. There should still be some brighter spells around, but cloud will build at times. Due to another hazy cloud of calima dust on the way, there is a chance of some muddy rain on the way.
The good news is that conditions should begin to improve again as the weekend goes on, with Sunday looking like the pick of the days.
Thursday March 19
Thursday will have a bit of everything, depending on where you are. Northern parts of the province are likely to see more cloud, with the chance of some light rain early on, while elsewhere it should stay brighter with some sunshine coming through.
Temperatures will be similar overnight, but daytime highs will dip slightly. It may feel a little breezier along the coast too, with a noticeable northeasterly wind at times.
Friday March 20
Friday looks set to be the most unsettled day of the week, with plenty of cloud and some rain at times. It shouldn’t be constant, but you may get caught in a few showers if you’re out and about. As this rain collides with another wave of calima dust, any rain that falls is likely to be muddy.
Temperatures will drop slightly, so it will feel a bit cooler, especially along the coast, where it will be a bit breezier.
Saturday March 21
Saturday looks a bit mixed to start, especially in the south, where some rain is possible in the morning. The calima dust will hang over the province for most of the day, so again any rain that falls is likely to be muddy.
Things should improve as the day goes on, though, with cloud breaking up and some sunshine coming through later on. Temperatures will rise slightly, and with lighter winds it should feel a bit more comfortable.
Sunday March 22
By Sunday, conditions should have settled down again across much of Alicante province. Skies will be mostly clear, though there could be some early-morning mist or fog in places. There is a small chance of rain later in the day inland, but for most, it should stay dry and fairly bright. Temperatures will edge up a little, giving the day a more pleasant, spring-like feel.
The unsettled weather looks set to continue, and although this time of year is often a bit mixed, the last couple of months have been particularly grey and changeable, which has made it feel like a slow start to the year. With Easter falling early in April this year, there is hope that things will begin to improve soon. For now, though, it’s another cloudy and possibly rainy weekend on the way.
With that calima dust on the way, it's definitely not a weekend to wash your car. Make sure to take precautions, especially for anyone with respiratory problems as the dust in the air can aggravate any pre-existing breathing conditions.

Minimum and maximum temperatures in Alicante:
- Thursday March 19: Min 8ºC, Max 19ºC
- Friday March 20: Min 7ºC, Max 17ºC
- Saturday March 21: Min 6ºC, Max 18ºC
- Sunday March 22: Min 5ºC, Max 19ºC
