Portmán is a pedanía of La Unión and is serviced by a larger health centre in La Unión itself, which offers longer consultancy hours than this smaller satellite centre. Residents have a full hospital and emergencies service in Cartagena, this area falling into the Cartagena II area, although can go to the La Unión health centre for minor emergencies from  Monday to Saturday between 9:00am to 17:00 pm
