Drunk British driver kills shopper at Alicante petrol station
The UK woman tested positive for alcohol after she smashed through the Costa Blanca filling station window

An 84-year-old man has died and a 51-year-old woman is in a serious condition after a car ploughed through the front window of an Alicante petrol station and ran over them both. The vehicle was driven by a 48-year-old British woman who later failed a breathalyser test.
The horrific accident happened in the municipality of Poble Nou de Benitatxell at around 5pm on Wednesday July 26 at a BP service station with attached mini-supermarket right in front of the CV-740.
CCTV footage shows the Mercedes driver careening off the road and a witness describes her crossing the forecourt “at speed” before smashing through the front of the building and lurching out the other side.
Guardia Civil are investigating the incident.
