Feathers fly as turkey truck overturns near Seville Airport
Traffic on the SE-20 ground to a halt after dozens of birds escaped from a toppled lorry

The accident happened at around 10.00am on the SE-20, also known as the Ronda Supernorte, heading in the direction of Seville Airport. According to reports, the truck toppled while coming into a right-hand bend where the speed limit is 50km/h and the surface is known to be in poor condition. The cause of the incident appears to have been a shift in the load closest to the driver’s cab, which gave way and sent several cages crashing down onto the road.
Local police quickly arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area and began managing traffic, while recovery crews worked to collect the animals and move the remaining load to another vehicle. Some of the turkeys sadly died from the impact of the fall, but others managed to escape from broken cages and were seen wandering around the roadside.
A spokesperson for the city council’s emergency services confirmed the situation caused a partial closure of the road and detours for drivers for a couple of hours while the scene was cleared. Once the last of the birds were safely recovered and the lorry reloaded, the SE-20 was reopened and traffic returned to normal.
The road surface, however, was left scattered with feathers - a rather visible reminder of the earlier disruption.
