ARCHIVED - Flights delayed and diverted at Seville airport after plane blocks runway
The light aeroplane was unable to move off the runway for two hours after landing
Inbound and outbound flight traffic at Seville airport was disrupted for more than two and a half hours yesterday, Tuesday April 11, after a light aircraft blocked the runway.
The small plane landed at Sevilla, according to Air Traffic Controllers, and seemed to be unable to move.
Several passenger plans had to be diverted to alternative airports, while others were delayed on arrival and departure.
Eventually, the stalled airplane, which had flown to the airstrip from Cape Verde, was towed and air traffic could continue.
Today, April 12, another flight from Seville – a Vueling flight which was heading to London Gatwick – was forced to turn around and land again at Seville just minutes after take off due to security concerns.
The incidents comes just days after a terror scare at Malaga airport when a woman threatened to shoot down planes.
