ARCHIVED - French, American and British tourists top Airbnb bookings for the Feria de Abril in Seville
This year’s main Andalusian fair kicks off this weekend
Travellers from France, USA and UK are the most frequent visitors to Seville during the Feria de Abril, according to Airbnb.
The French, Americans and British were – in that order – the foreign tourists who made the most bookings on Airbnb last year during the April Fair in Seville, along with Spanish guests from Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia.
This year, the Feria de Abril de Sevilla, a popular flamenco-based fiesta in Spain, takes place in the Andalucía city from Sunday April 23 to Saturday 29.
It is the first of the region’s ferias, and is followed by around two months of fairs in different towns and cities around Andalucía taking place every weekend until summer.
Last year, behind the French, Americans and Brits, the most common nationalities of tourists visiting the Feria de Abril were from Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, Mexico, Canada, Portugal and Argentina, says Airbnb.
Last year, the tourist accommodation site earned more than 850 euros on average in Seville during that week, almost 30% more than in 2019, the last time this event was held before the pandemic.
Some of the most sought-after short-term lets in Seville for the Feria are a loft in the heart of the city, a flat in the centre, a loft in the old town, an 18th-century palace-house and a central flat with a French balcony.
The general manager of Airbnb Marketing Services in Spain, Mónica Casañas, has stressed that festivities like this are “a unique opportunity for residents to earn additional income through accommodation”.
