Get 50 per cent off accommodation with tourist voucher in Murcia
Here's how you can get your bono turístico in Murcia
Murcia is one of the most beloved regions in Spain and adored by tourists from around the world. With its great cultural activities, history, nature, gastronomy and traditions, Murcia is a must see destination, and now visitors have an opportunity to stay in the Region and save money while doing so.
The community of Murcia has launched a new edition of its 'Bono Turístico' tourist voucher. The voucher provides a 50% discount on tourist accommodation in order to promote tourism during the autumn-winter season.
Now what is a Tourist Voucher? A Tourist Voucher is a a direct aid that covers 50% of the cost of the subsidised services of the trip, with a maximum of 250 euros (VAT included).
So who can apply for it? The voucher can be requested by anyone resident in Spain as long as they book a minimum stay of two consecutive nights in the same accommodation.
The list of accommodations on offer – registered in the Registry of Tourist Companies of the Region of Murcia – includes hotels, tourist apartments, campsites, rural houses, rural inns and hostels.
Requesting one of these tourist vouchers is very simple. All you have to do is go to the Tourism Region of Murcia website and follow the steps indicated (you will have to fill out a form and accept a signed declaration of responsibility).
Then you will receive a confirmation email (at the address you provided) and, following the order in which you submitted your request, you will be assigned a promotional code to use.
To finalise your reservation, you need your national identity document (DNI number for anyone with Spanish citizenship) or the foreigner's identity card (NIE number for non-Spaniards).
The programme ends on December 22, and the last reservations will be for the nights of December 21 and 22.
In this edition travel agencies from the region of Murcia have been incorporated into the programme, so that interested parties can book accommodation services together with tourist activities offered on the aforementioned website.
It should also be remembered that there is a period of seven calendar days to formalise the reservation at the tourist accommodation or travel agency participating in the programme.
A new voucher can be requested, although this will be subject to any waiting list that may exist. From the day on which the participating accommodation or travel agency formalises the reservation, until the first day on which the contracted service is enjoyed, a minimum of 7 calendar days and a maximum of 30 calendar days must elapse.
The previous edition of the Bono Turístico tourist voucher was a great success. It closed the season from November 2023 to May 2024 with 4,500 overnight stays in tourist accommodation in the Region, generating a direct impact on these establishments of 1 million euros.
Almost half of the vouchers were awarded to residents of the Region itself, who decided to visit other tourist destinations in their Community, while 25% were tourists from the neighbouring province of Alicante, with Valencia and Madrid close behind.
The director of the Tourism Institute, Juan Francisco Martínez , recalled that since the program began in 2021, the Region has distributed more than 6,700 vouchers, which have generated a turnover for the sector of around 2 million euros, only in accommodation and without counting the amount generated in hospitality and other activities in the complementary offer.
