ARCHIVED - Granada-Almería rail passes will be free from September and Malaga-Seville will be half price
The measure announced by the Government will apply 100% to medium-distance journeys and 50% on Avant lines for any rail passes over at at least ten journeys
After Spain’s President, Pedro Sánchez, announced this week that he would extend crisis measures to combat the rise in the cost of living, 100% of the cost of travel cards will be subsidised on all Cercanías, Rodalies and medium-distance Renfe-operated trains from 1 September to 31 December this year.
In the province of Granada, there are at least 10 journeys on Renfe Media Distancia (Medium Distance) trains that you can get a 100% discount on tickets for, including the Granada-Almeria line.
In addition, for journeys between Malaga and Seville, the discount will be 50% for Renfe Avant trains, as confirmed by the Subdelegation of the Government in Granada.
The Government delegate in Andalusia, Pedro Fernández, has stated that these initiatives “demonstrate the Government’s sensitivity to the working class and the groups that are suffering the most” from the consequences of the war in Ukraine, and which will have a “significant impact for people in Andalusia”.
