The town of Los Barrios was worst hit, with 55 people and eight dogs evacuated due to flooding.
Emergency services in Cádiz (Andalusia) have had a busy weekend as heavy rain pounded the Campo de Gibraltar area, particularly on Sunday (7 March) when an orange alert was issued.
Almost 40 calls came in to 112 (the Spanish emergency number) to report that homes and roads had flooded in Algeciras, Los Barrios, Tarifa and San Roque.
The worst affected area was Los Barrios, where the Guardia Civil had to rescue 55 people who were stranded, three of whom (including a 94-year-old woman) needed medical attention for hypothermia.
Eight dogs also had to be carried to safety as the municipal pound flooded.
