Hottest May weekend in history: Alicante weather forecast May 29-June 1
The mercury is set to soar as Alicante braces for its warmest May days since records began in 1950

Alicante is heading into what could be the hottest May weekend on record, with the Spanish Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasting the peak of this exceptional heat episode between Thursday May 29, and Sunday June 1. According to Aemet, these temperatures are without precedent since record-keeping began in 1950.
The intense heat is already making itself felt. In the early hours of Thursday morning (May 29), Alicante experienced one of the first tropical nights of the year, with overnight lows staying above 20ºC. These warm, sticky nights are expected to continue throughout the rest of the week and into early next week.
Thursday May 29

On Thursday, skies will remain mostly clear throughout the day. Temperatures are on the rise and will climb well into the 30s, bringing a full-on taste of summer. Winds will be light and variable in the morning before picking up slightly in the afternoon, creating a gentle breeze across the province.
Friday May 30

By Friday, cloud cover will begin to increase, particularly in the second half of the day, with patches of medium and high clouds moving in. Despite this, temperatures will continue to rise, reaching around 35ºC in some areas. The wind pattern will remain similar to Thursday, with calm conditions early on followed by breezier afternoons.
Saturday May 31

Saturday will begin with bright, sunny skies across the province. As the day progresses, inland areas may see some cloud development, while high cloud cover will spread across the rest of the region.
There is a chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms in the northern interior during the afternoon. Overnight lows may inch up slightly or hold steady, while daytime highs are expected to remain much the same. Winds will stay light and variable, tending towards an easterly direction later in the day.
Sunday June 1

Sunday, the first day of June, will bring a mix of sunshine and high clouds. The northern part of Alicante could see more daytime cloud build-up, along with a small chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms in isolated areas.
Temperatures will remain largely unchanged and light easterly winds will continue to blow gently across the province.
