How to get a free gift when you visit the beach at Vera this summer
The Town Hall is giving away free items to anyone who picks up rubbish from the beaches of Vera
This summer, the Ayuntamiento de Vera in the province of Almería has a campaign going on its beaches to try and keep the playas clean and raise awareness among beachgoers of the importance of looking after the environment.
Under the banner of ‘Mi Playa Bonica’, the most exciting part of the campaign for the majority of people will probably be the fact that ordinary people can exchange rubbish they have collected from the beach for gift items in an ‘ecomarket’ set up by the seaside.
All you have to do is pick up some bottle caps, cigarette butts or plastic and take it to the stands which are stationed on the beaches to receive your free gift.
These are the dates and times when the ‘Mi Playa Bonica’ will be stationed on the different beaches of Vera:
- Wednesday July 24 at 5pm: El Playazo
- Wednesday August 14 at 5pm: Puerto Rey
- Wednesday August 21 at 5pm: Cala Marqués
In addition, the activity includes an exhibition of artwork made from recycled materials and a museum of marine litter, along with a photo exhibition highlighting the serious environmental problem of marine litter.
The aim of all this is to raise awareness about the importance of keeping beaches and natural environments clean, contributing to the conservation of the environment.
Not only is it harmful for the flora and fauna that live along our coastlines, but nobody wants to sit on the beach and swim in the sea surrounded by litter. For the good of all, and for yourself, you can collect some rubbish from the beach this summer and walk away with a free present just for you!
