Huge snake slithers into Alhama de Murcia house

With the arrival of summer, snake sightings are becoming more and more frequent. Since the end of May, police in the Region of Murcia have been inundated with calls from panicked home and business owners who have discovered these reptiles on their property.

This was the case with one Alhama de Murcia resident who had quite the scare when he discovered an impressively large snake inside his house this week. Luckily, animal experts from the Local Police were quickly on hand and managed to capture the reptile without harming it.

"After managing to extract the animal from the property, it was verified that it was a native species and it was moved to a remote area of land, where it was released," a spokesperson explained.

At the beginning of June, another Murcian family was stunned to find an enormous Montpellier snake slithering through their house in the district of Casillas. Although harmless to humans, this species can grow up to 2.55 metres in length and has been known to weigh in at a hefty 2 kilos.

And just last week, officers from the Murcia Local Police captured a horseshoe whip snake that was found basking in the doorway of a business in La Alberca. In this case, the reptile was transferred to the El Valle Wildlife Recovery Center.
