ARCHIVED - Incidence rate on the rise: Andalusia Covid update July 4
Daily infections, hospitalisations and ICU admissions have all increased in Andalucía

Many health experts in Spain believe that not only have we experienced a seventh coronavirus wave, but that an eighth round has already begun, with doctors in Primary Care facilities across the country claiming that more and more young people are contracting the disease.
Although Andalucía is still holding on to the lowest incidence rate in Spain its general Covid data follows the national trend, with daily infections exploding and hospital pressure mounting.
Coronavirus infections
The last update released by the regional health authorities on July 1 shows that 6,988 new cases of coronavirus have been registered, 3,480 of which were diagnosed in people over the age of 60.
This is a staggering 2,473 more infections than in the previous report and brings the total number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,548,556.
Hospitalisations and fatalities
There are currently 606 people hospitalised for coronavirus in Andalucía, 33 more than last Tuesday, while admissions to intensive care units have grown by ten people to 35 altogether.
By province, Malaga has registered 138 hospitalised patients, of which nine are in the ICU, followed by Granada with 108 admitted, one in the ICU; Seville, with 103 admitted and nine in the ICU, Cádiz with 63, three in the ICU; Jaén with 62, six in the ICU; Córdoba with 46, five in the ICU; and Huelva with 50, one in intensive care units, and Almería with 36, and one in the ICU.
The Covid-related death toll has increased by one, bringing the total number of fatalities since the start of the health crisis to 14,291.
Cumulative incidence rate
The 14-day incidence rate in people over 60 has increased by 95.34 points in just three days to stand at 445.04 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Vaccination data
Andalucía has administered a total of 18,596,902 coronavirus vaccines, while 7,452,082 people are now double jabbed. To date, 4,385,478 people have received a booster shot.
This means that 87.9% of the total population is fully inoculated while 89.8% of people have received at least one jab.
