Irish couple found dead in Valencia home by their special needs children

The bodies of an Irish couple were discovered by their two children at their home in Cullera

The Guardia Civil is investigating the deaths of an Irish couple, aged 50 and 45, whose bodies were found at their home in the Valencian town of Cullera. According to police sources, the couple's two children, who are minors, discovered their parents' bodies on the afternoon of Tuesday August 25.

The case has been taken over by the Guardia Civil's Homicide Unit. While the cause of death hasn't been confirmed, sources say there are some indications that something unusual may have taken place, and it's understood that signs of drug use may have been found at the property, something that's also being looked into as part of the investigation.

The children found their parents' bodies in the jacuzzi at the family home, located in an exclusive coastal development. According to reports, the bodies were unclothed and showed what appeared to be stab wounds, and the Guardia Civil is now working to establish whether the deaths might be linked to drug use, an accident or a violent attack.

The couple's children, who have special needs, turned to their landlord for help after finding their parents, as the family had been renting the property. It was the landlord who then contacted the emergency services, prompting officers from Cullera's Local Police and the Guardia Civil to attend the scene. After spotting signs that could point to a crime, officers called in the Guardia Civil's Homicide Group from its Valencia Command, and the on-call court in Sueca was also notified.

Officers who attended the property reportedly found the water in the jacuzzi to be cloudy, and samples have since been taken away for analysis. Following the incident, Cullera Town Council's social services department has taken responsibility for the care of the two children.
