Italian man arrested in Torremolinos accused of stabbing partner to death
A minute’s silence is being observed in the Malaga town for the victim
Spanish police have arrested a 45-year-old Italian man for allegedly stabbing his partner, a 28-year-old woman, to death in the town of Torremolinos in Malaga.
The incident took place at around 11.30am on Wednesday May 17 in the area of La Carihuela. By the time paramedics arrived at the scene, the woman was already dead.
The Government Delegation in Andalusia has informed that she was registered in the Viogen domestic abuse reporting system, but for a previous relationship.
Her latest partner, an Italian living in Torremolinos, was also already registered in the Viogen records for two of his previous relationships.
Between the two of them as a couple, though, there had been no previous record in this system.
The man was arrested by police in Torremolinos on Wednesday afternoon.
Following the events, the Town Hall in Torremolinos has declared a day of official mourning.
Flags outside all municipal buildings will fly at half mast until 1.30pm on Thursday May 18.
They will also hold a minute’s silence at the door of the Town Hall this Thursday 18 at 12 noon.
Just last March, a British woman, 64, was stabbed to death by her husband in the Costa Blanca resort of Orihuela.
