ARCHIVED - Jet2 and Ryanair increase flights and introduce new routes to Almeria, Spain
This summer, flights will operate between Almeria and thirty different destinations

After two years of drastically lower activity as a result of the pandemic, Almeria is quickly re-establishing itself as a top tourist destination with a particular focus on British travellers, who make up the vast majority of passengers to this Andalucía municipality.
Recognising the demand, the major airlines have been quick to respond: TUI UK has resumed its regular flights between Almeria and Birmingham and Manchester which cater for 20,000 tourists, Ryanair has regular connections with Dublin, Manchester, Brussels and London while this summer, Jet2 will operate flights to four British cities, two more than last year.
A new Jet2 route between Bristol and Almeria was inaugurated on Wednesday June 22, and the airline will also run regular flights to Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds Bradford. According to company sources, up to 1,300 weekly seats will be available between El Alquián airport and the British Isles.
Meanwhile, with twelve routes weekly from Almeria, Ryanair hopes to reach 118,000 passengers this summer, a forecast much higher than the 77,000 travellers who flew to the province in the season before the pandemic.
The Ryanair spokesperson in Spain and Portugal, Elena Cabrera, predicts a growth forecast of 65% in the number of passengers using Almeria’s airport in the coming months, with flights from London and Brussels being the most popular. Based on these positive forecasts, the airline has increased its number of seats this year by around 14%.
“Andalucía is one of the communities where we are growing the most in Spain. After two years without flying, our forecast is to exceed pre-pandemic activity levels this summer,” a Ryanair spokesperson said. Looking ahead to winter, the Irish airline will operate nine routes in Malaga, seven in Seville and three in Jerez.
Because demand tends to drop off, Ryanair doesn’t operate any flights between Almeria and the UK from September to March.
This coming summer, El Alquián airport will offer connections between Almeria and thirty different destinations.
