The City Council of Lorca has announced that it will undertake an extensive remodelling project at the Lorca Bus Station to the tune of almost 49,000 euros. Since its inauguration back in 1990 no major renovation works have been undertaken and the bathrooms, along with the external canopy, are in a state of disrepair.
The works will be carried out in phases and the first stage, which will include the restrooms, will cost 48,260 euros.
Mayor Diego José Mateos added that “the exterior pergola that covers the platforms will also be fixed, which has numerous leaks and it will be repainted and the downspouts and gutters in the central part of the water collection system will be fixed. In addition, the perimeter fencing will be repaired and the lighting will be changed to an LED-type system.”
Lorca is the third largest municipality in the Region of Murcia and the remodelling work, which the mayor considers to be “more than urgent,” is essential if the city is to offer an accessible and comprehensive transport infrastructure.
It is hoped that the renovations will be finished by next year.
