ARCHIVED - Magnitude 3.9 earthquake in the Gulf of Cadiz
The seaquake was registered shortly before midday on Thursday January 19
An earthquake measuring magnitude 3.9 on the Richter scale shook southern Spain’s Gulf of Cádiz this Thursday morning, according to the National Geographic Institute (IGN).
The epicentre of this quake was not far from the mouth of the Guadalquivir river, at a depth of 27 kilometres, under the sea. Technically, this makes it a submarine earthquake, or seaquake.
Specifically, it was recorded at 11:42:55 on Thursday January 19, 2023, at latitude 36.7619, longitude -6.9040.
