ARCHIVED - Malaga lights up for Christmas on November 26
The inauguration of the famous Málaga Christmas lighting will be accompanied by a traditional music show
Held on the last Friday in November each year to coincide with Black Friday, the switching on of the iconic Christmas lights draws crowds in their thousands to Calle Larios in Málaga city to witness the spectacle. Last year’s celebrations had to be curtailed because of the coronavirus pandemic, but this November 26 promises to bring Málaga back to its former glory with the traditional musical and light show.
The Larios lighting will once again be at the centre of the capital’s festivities, hosting the famous ‘Christmas Forest’ for 40 days. The forest comprises of 22 separate arches measuring more than 12 metres in height and adorned with some 342 colourful leaves and 100 suns and angels.
The Ximenez lighting company will be responsible for the spectacle, after being awarded a contract in September for 3,690,787.80 euros.
