ARCHIVED - Malaga Port welcomes seven cruise line stopovers this month
The majority of the dockings at the Costa del Sol port will take place from Valentine's Day until February 24
February 2023 is shaping up to be a far more active month in terms of cruise liner activity at Malaga Port than the same period last month, with seven stopovers of three ships scheduled this month. The exact number of passengers aboard has not been made public.
Last February, just two tourist liners moored overnight and seven ships arrived without passengers for technical reasons.
The busiest period will be between February 14 (Valentine's Day) and the 24th, and while their presence will be a welcome boost for the local economy, it will be brief as the majority of stopovers are basically for embarkations and disembarkation.
Of the three shipping companies, two of them, Norwegian Sun and MSC Lirica, are docking in Malaga as part of fixed itineries.

The Norwegian cruise ship, which docked on February 3, has been immersed in a Malaga campaign since November 29 2022, and has additional scheduled calls on the 14 and 24; the first being the start and end of the voyage.
Similarly, the MSC Lirica of MSC Cruises, which has already docked once this month, has two more visits planned on the same dates as the Norwegian Sun, as has the AidaStella.
The number of scheduled stopovers may be a big improvement on last February, but they are lower than January 2023. The port authorities consider it a "poor balance" and are looking ahead to March, when "the forecasts point to a clear increase in cruise activity".
