ARCHIVED - Malaga Port to welcome 17 cruise ships this September
The popular Andalucía tourist destination is set to receive several cruises this month, including four in one day on September 30
The Port of Málaga will receive 17 cruise ships throughout the month of September after this sector of the tourism industry was reactivated just over two months ago, on June 15.
Málaga welcomed just 10 cruise ships this summer; five in August, three in July and two in June, according to data published by Málagaport.
However, the autumn months are usually busier for cruises as passengers look to travel to warmer destinations, and this September is no different in Málaga.
The 17 cruise ships scheduled to dock this September are sure to be welcomed with open arms by many sectors in Málaga, including the hospitality sector, as the cruise industry is expected to play a huge part in reactivating the local economy.
On Thursday, September 2, the AIDAstella is set to reach the Port of Málaga, kicking off the autumn season, followed by its sister ship, AIDAperla on September 7, which will also be making a return stop on September 21.
Several other cruises will be visiting the city throughout the month and the visits will peak on September 30, when four ships are set to dock in Málaga on the same day; the Clio (Grand Circle Cruise Line), the World Navigator (Mystic Cruises), the Iona (P&O) and Mein Schiff (TUI Cruises).
