Man drowns on Benidorm beach
The victim was pulled unconscious from the sea at Levante beach
A man whose nationality has yet to be made public drowned on Benidorm’s famous Levante beach on Sunday July 16, as reported by the Emergency Information and Coordination Centre (CICU).
The CICU received a call at around 8pm notifying them that an unconscious man had been pulled from the surf and a SAMU ambulance was immediately despatched to the scene.
Despite the frantic attention of rescue workers, the victim, whose age is unknown, was pronounced dead a short time later. A post-mortem will now be carried out to determine the cause of the drowning.
In the neighbouring Region of Murcia, a four-year-old boy died on the same day after being dragged from a swimming pool in Molina de Segura. The child was transferred, unconscious, to hospital after the accident on Friday July 14 but sadly passed away after two days in intensive care.
