ARCHIVED - Man arrested with false documents boarding a plane from Malaga to Ireland
The suspect had admitted that his plan was to travel to Ireland after leaving Malaga, Andalucía
A 29-year-old man has been arrested trying to board a plane at the Malaga-Costa airport on November 20 with false documentation and a potentially fake negative PCR test. Official sources have confirmed that the suspect revealed in a statement that he had been intending to fly to Ireland.
Police officers intercepted the man at a check point before he got on the place and quickly established that his ID card and driver’s licence were fakes. A subsequent search of his luggage revealed two plane tickets: one for Romania along with his real identity documents as well as one for a flight to Ireland, which he had obtained under his false identity.
As per Covid safety regulations, the would-be passenger had provided a coronavirus test, which officials suspect may also have been forged.
The young man was detained and faces being charged for a crime of document falsification.
