ARCHIVED - Man investigated in Almeria for selling fake designer clothes
Items replicating brands such as Nike, Levis and Fila were seized from a shop in Almería, Andalucía
Police officers in Roquetas de Mar, Almería, have seized 279 clothing and accessory items which were on sale to the public, after they were found to be imitations of well-known brands.
A 42-year-old man is currently under investigation after he was found to be linked to the clothes. He had displayed the items in a local shop, which sold souvenirs as well as clothing and other items, in the municipality of Roquetas del Mar, where he was selling the fake products to members of the public.
The shop also had an adjacent storage room, where some of the imitation clothing was seized from.
The fake items included football shirts from popular teams, such as Real Madrid and Barcelona FC, as well as T-shirts from international brands, including The North Face and Levis.
Shirts with logos linking them to luxury car companies, such as Mercedes, BMW and Audi, were also being sold to the public and hats and ‘man bags’, or satchels, supposedly made by brands such as Nike, Adidas or Fila were amongst the seized items.
The culprit will be charged with crimes against industrial property and the Guardia Civil are still investigating where the man got the items from and whether anyone else was involved in their sale.
