ARCHIVED - Mass vaccination centre in Alicante will adminster 4,000 jabs a day
Fifty health professionals are working at 14 vaccination points at a field site next to Alicante General Hospital
The Valencia region is accelerating its rollout of third booster jabs with the reopening of a mass vaccination centre at Alicante General Hospital this week where 50 health professionals plan to administer 4,000 doses a day at 14 different points.
In addition to the mass immunisation points, the site has a vaccine preparation area, administrative and registration checkpoints, waiting rooms and an emergency area.
Over the course of this week, those aged 30 to 39 in the Alicante and San Juan health department areas will be immunised first, progressing to 18-year-olds and all those who have yet to be vaccinated.
As has been done in the past, appointments will be sent via text, and anybody aged under 60 is advised to periodically check to see if they have received a message.
"Exactly one year ago we were vaccinating healthcare workers with second doses at this site. Since then many things have happened, but the main thing is that we are seeing a change in trend during this sixth wave, which is the result of the unprecedented vaccination campaign that we have carried out," explained the director of Primary Care, Inés Montiel.
"In a month we hope to have completed this process, another step forward in fighting the virus and doing everything in our power to put an end to this health crisis."
