May 3-4 Cruces de Granada festival 2024 returns to Andalucia
Everything you need to know to enjoy this famous Granada festival
Granada is gearing up for its annual Cruces de Mayo (Crosses of May) festival, starting May 3 and extending through May 4, filling the picturesque city with spirited entertainment, fun and excitement.
To help visitors plan ahead, here's your ultimate guide to the festivities and participating cross displays.
Where are the Crosses of Granada
On these important dates for the city of Granada, you can find crosses in schools, patios, shop windows, squares and other places on public roads.
Please note that the City Council has banned alcohol sales near the crosses to maintain decorum and concentrate on the celebratory spirit. Use this handy map to locate all crosses across schools, courtyards, storefronts, parks, and public streets. Only crosses located in enclosed spaces can legally sell refreshments.
Schedule of activities: Friday May 3
12pm: Proclamation and contest awards ceremony for decorated crosses in the Town Square.
Plaza del Carmen activities:
1.30pm-2.30pm: Granada Municipal Flamenco School ‘Reina Sofía’ performs
2.30pm-4pm: Live music takes centre stage
4.45pm-5.45pm: Enjoy traditional performances by the Municipal Group of Regional Dances
Further afternoon and evening shows run from 6pm until 10.45pm
Paseo del Salón entertainment:
Midday concerts from AAVV Avenida Cervantes and Rociero Aroma del Camino Choir.
A star-studded RADIOLÉ Day of the Cross concert from 7pm until 10pm
Evening activities carry on until midnight, featuring choirs, dancers and flamenco shows
Plaza de las Pasiegas plays host to a Granada Municipal Music Band performance at 7pm with Iván Centenill
Schedule of activities: Saturday May 4
Visitors can relax and enjoy musical acts in front of the Municipal Cross throughout the day, organised by the Granada City Council.
