May 16 Malaga's Noche en Blanco lights up the city with a night of free culture and music
Hundreds of events, concerts and exhibitions take over the city on Saturday May 16
Málaga is preparing for one of its most anticipated cultural evenings of the year as Noche en Blanco returns on Saturday May 16. From 8.00pm through to 1.00am, the city centre will come alive with hundreds of free events, transforming streets, museums and public spaces into a celebration of art, music and creativity. This year’s theme, “The future is written in music”, sets the tone for an evening filled with live performances, sound installations and musical experiences across Málaga.
What to expect
- Free entry to many of Málaga’s top museums, including the Picasso Museum, Pompidou Centre and CAC Málaga
- Open-air concerts across the city centre, featuring everything from flamenco and jazz to pop and gospel
- Light installations and projections on iconic buildings such as the Cathedral and City Hall
- Street performances, dance shows and interactive experiences
- Special night visits to landmarks including the Alcazaba and the English Cemetery
One of the highlights this year includes singers performing from balconies along Calle Larios, with short concerts taking place throughout the evening. There will also be creative installations across the city and even live music on selected bus routes between 8.00pm and 10.00pm.
Most activities are centred around the historic centre, making it easy to explore on foot. Do bear in mind that some events require advance booking and the city will be busy, so planning ahead is recommended.
