Mugger attacks English and French tourists in Spain with knife

There has been a stabbing in Catalonia, after a group of tourists were attacked in Lloret de Mar. Two couples, of French and English nationality, were attacked with a knife at the intersection of Carrer de la Vila and Carrer de les Trompetes.

The four were on the public road in the early hours of the morning when a hooded man confronted them with a knife and demanded that they give him everything they owned.

However, the tourists refused to hand over their belongings and an argument ensued. The argument then led to a physical struggle as the man tried to forcefully take their goods.

During the struggle and the couples attempt to prevent themselves from being assaulted, one of the young women was injured by the attacker's knife, causing considerable bleeding.

Medical professionals from the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques ( SEM ) went to the scene of the incident together with different patrols from the local police of Lloret de Mar. The medical professionals treated the victim and transferred her to the Hospital Comarcal de Blanes.

At the same time as the young woman was being cared for, the local police officers from Lloret de Mar began a search of the area for the alleged attacker. He was quickly located, arrested and accused of the robbery and violence.

The only thing he had managed to steal from the tourists was a mobile phone, which the police recovered during the search of the man. The arrested man is expected to be brought before the corresponding investigating court in the next few hours.
