The weather forecast for the Region of Murcia this week – the first after the Three Kings holidays – is for mainly sunny conditions, with a chance of rain halfway through the week as a powerful DANA storm sweeps across Spain. In Murcia, though, minimum temperatures will barely drop below zero at night and will reach up to the mid-teens during the day.

On Monday January 8, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) predicts it will be sunny with light frosts in inland high areas and moderate north-westerly winds becoming light in the afternoon.

Tuesday 9 is more overcast, although temperatures will rise by about one degree Celsius. Towards the evening, there is a chance of rain and thunderstorms in the west of the province, in areas like Águilas and Puerto Lumbreras, spreading eastwards across the whole region as night sets in.

The rain will continue on and off throughout the day on Wednesday 10, especially in central and northern areas but leaving the southern coast, including Mazarrón and Cartagena, alone.

Thursday 11 will still be cloudy and there may still be isolated, localised showers in some parts, such as in Caravaca in the morning and in Lorca in the afternoon.

Going into Friday 12 and the weekend, the rain is expected to stop altogether and the sunshine predominate over the clouds, and temperatures on Sunday 14 will rise considerably, reaching over 20ºC.
