ARCHIVED - Nerja takes further step forward towards beginning long awaited health centre
The health centre in Nerja, Malaga, has taken another step forward.
Following 18 years of political wranglings over the provision of a new health centre in Nerja, the council has taken a step forward in their plans after 11 companies entered bids in their latest tender.
Nerja council had last month put out a tender to find a company to carry out the urbanisation works to the plot of land chosen for the new centre, with 11 companies entering bids to take part.
The company awarded the contract will be in charge of urbanising the 3,700 square metre plot where the health centre will be located. The plot will then be transferred to the Junta de Andalucia who will then be in charge of building the centre.
The €1,066,090.10 contract will include demolitions, earthworks, paving, road layout, sewerage, public lighting and signalling works.
Officials will now meet to examine the tenders submitted and award the contract to one of the companies.
Plans to create a new health centre in Nerja have been ongoing since 2003, but disagreements over who should pay for the centre, as well as where it should be located, had caused delays until last month Nerja council announced it had bought the land the centre will be located on, allowing the plans to now go ahead.
