ARCHIVED - New path will connect the Gibralfaro Castle with the English Cemetery in Malaga
Malaga City Council is creating the 330-metre path to connect Gibralfaro Castle and the English Cemetery following an investment of €15,700.
In a bid to offer locals a new way to enjoy both Malaga’s urban and forest areas, the city council is creating a new 330-metre path which will connect two of the city’s most popular attractions.
The new path will be incorporated into the 5 kilometres of walkways in the Parque Forestal de Gibralfaro and will set out from Calle Cañada de los Ingleses behind the English Cemetery, providing direct access to the Gibralfaro Castle.
The €15,700 works are being carried out by Perica, the company in charge of Malaga’s forest area maintenance team, and will include eliminating non-native vegetation, improving the native vegetation, clearing the existing path and creating steps on the steeper slopes.
The plans also include the creation of a 6-metre-long wooden walkway on an uneven area, as well as two small viewpoints with furniture offering views over the bay of Malaga.
The works are expected to be completed in the new few days for the new pathway to open in the coming weeks.
