New storm Martinho set to hit Málaga on Thursday after recent devastating weather
Heavy rainfall and possible storms are expected to impact the region, following the aftermath of Storm Laurence

The aftermath of Storm Laurence has already caused considerable disruption, with over 90 litres of rain falling in just 12 hours in areas such as Benahavís and Casasola. Málaga’s Campanillas district saw floodwaters surge, leading to the evacuation of nearly 400 homes as a precaution. The orange warning level, which was triggered on Monday, has now passed, but more heavy rainfall is expected as Storm Martinho makes its way towards the region.
The storm is predicted to hit Málaga on Thursday evening, with the heaviest rain arriving after 6:00 p.m. Aemet's forecast suggests that rainfall will spread from west to east, and could be locally heavy and persistent in the western half of the province. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms. Temperatures are expected to rise slightly, with highs reaching 22°C on the coast and 19°C inland, while lows will remain around 15°C along the coast and 11°C inland.
Wednesday, March 19, will offer a brief respite, with no precipitation expected and temperatures rising to 20°C on the coast. However, Storm Martinho will bring widespread rain on Thursday, with conditions continuing into Friday, March 21. Although the rain will ease, temperatures will drop, with highs of 19°C on the coast and 16°C inland, and lows ranging from 13°C on the coast to 8°C inland.
In light of these developments, residents should remain vigilant as the storm approaches and prepare for possible disruptions, especially in the western areas of Málaga where the heaviest rain is expected to fall. Further updates will be provided as the situation unfolds.
