Non vaccinated residents in Valencia region can schedule jabs around holidays from July 15
Anyone planning vacations will be able to reschedule appointments in the region's provinces, including Alicante.
Non-vaccinated residents in the Valencia region planning a vacation look set to be able to reschedule their vaccine appointments around holidays from July 15.
The region's Ministry of Health is carrying out tests on the computerised vaccination appointment system this week, to ensure there are no hiccups, but the plan is that within a fortnight, people who are not yet fully immunised will be able to highlight their planned trip dates so that their jabs can be scheduled around them.
According to the regional president, Ximo Puig, the aim is to "overcome the pandemic and reactivate the economy", while stressing that "at this time, emotional recovery is also essential".
Half a million doses are expected to be administered across the region this week, even more if the "pace of Pfizer vaccine is maintained", though the government admits "shipments could move faster".
However, deliveries of Moderna doses "are expected to be increased" in coming weeks, vital if the Ministry of Health is to achieve its goal of vaccinating 30 to 39-year-olds from Monday, July 5.
With a focus on younger people, following a surge in infections of those under 30 in the region, the health department plans to "accelerate vaccinations", with the objective of having immunised "all university students by mid-September".
