ARCHIVED - Notable temperature drop with showery spells: Andalucia weather forecast August 8-14
The mercury will dip at the beginning of the week in most of Andalucia before soaring once again at the weekend

After baking in some of the highest temperatures in Spain for the last several days, Andalucia steps into the second week of August with a notable drop on the thermometers. Almost the entire region will experience some relief until the mercury begins to climb again towards the weekend, and several provinces can expect showery weather, according to Aemet.
From Monday August 8, the majority of municipalities will register between one and three degrees less in the middle of the day, although other areas such as Córdoba, Sevilla and Isla Mayor will see yet another a rise in temperatures.
Tuesday August 9 will be marked by the unusual arrival of summer rains, weak showers that will likely hit Trevelez, Granada, Guadix and Huelma by mid-afternoon. There is a yellow weather warning in place in Almeria for heat as well as strong gusts, with day-time temperatures rising in general.
The thermometers will take another jump upwards on Wednesday August 10, particularly inland, with Almeria, Cordoba and Jaen all on alert. A slightly cloudy day with a small chance of isolated showers in eastern areas that could occasionally be accompanied by drops of muddy rain.
There are no weather warnings in place for Thursday August 11 although the temperatures remain high, topping out at 39ºC in Cordoba and Granada. The nights will remain very warm, reaching a stifling 24ºC in Malaga.
As we approach the weekend an upper-level depression off the west coast of Portugal will bring some instability to Andalucia and push the temperatures up further, to a sweltering 41ºC on Friday August 12. There will be no reprieve at night, as the thermometer won’t drop below 19ºC.
Over Saturday August 13 and Sunday August 14 very little change is expected. Most of Andalucia can expect clear or slightly cloudy skies and another notable upswing in temperatures is expected, with highs of 43ºC predicted in Cordoba.
Minimum and maximum temperatures in Andalucia this week:
Monday August 8: 16ºC min; 38ºC max
Tuesday August 9: 17ºC min; 38ºC max
Wednesday August 10: 19ºC min; 40ºC max
Thursday August 11: 18ºC min; 39ºC max
Friday August 12: 19ºC min; 41ºC max
Saturday August 13: 21ºC min; 43ºC max
