November 14 to December 8 Annual patron saint fiestas in San Javier
Weekend celebrations with processions, live music, food and drink and fun for all the family, all in honour of St Francis Xavier!
Towards the end of every year the municipality of San Javier on the shores of the Mar Menor celebrates fiestas to commemorate the feast day on 3rd December of its patron saint, San Francisco Javier (St Francis Xavier), a Jesuit missionary who died in 1552 while on a mission to China.
Friday November 14
The fiestas tapas route begins, lasting until 7th December.
21.00: Tapas are served as the fiestas groups gather in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, with music from Míster Arbi10 and Pillomusic.
Midnight: Musical parade in the streets of the town.
Saturday November 15
22.00: Gala at which the children’s fiestas is chosen and crowned in the fiestas marquee, with music from Perkilusionist DJ Set.
Sunday November 16
RUTA DE LAS ERMITAS, a walk to visit all of the churches in the municipality.
6.00: Those taking on the longer of the two routes set out from the Iglesia de San Francisco Javier.
9.00: It’s the turn of those taking the shorter route to set out from the Iglesia de San Francisco Javier.

9.30: Clay pigeon shooting at Finca Lisón (behind the premises of José Díaz).
18.00: Another gala at which the children’s fiestas is chosen and crowned in the fiestas marquee, followed by the Aladdin musical “Fantasía, un mundo ideal” at the fiestas marquee.
Friday November 21
18.00: Historias Escondidas, a children’s activity featuring pirates, sailors and country folk to illustrate the history of San Javier.
20.00: Pirate, sailor and country folk gala at the winter theatre in Parque Almansa, with processions from the theatre to the fiestas marquee lasting from 18.00 to 22.00. Music is provided by the popular group Zoot Suiters.
21.30: Official opening of the fairground (Calle Halcón nº 102) with music from Charanga "La Tropachequera".
23.00: Fiesta EGB FM.
Saturday November 22
Children’s Day in Parque Almansa.
From 9.00: The tourist train follows a route through the municipality, including stops to pick up and drop off passengers in Parque Almansa.
From 11.00: Gymkana for teenagers.
From 11.00: Children’s activities and games in Parque Almansa.
A parade of the 501st Legion, of the Tercio de Levante, complete with photocall.
The Intempo San Javier Fest:
The doors open at 19.30 and the festival begins at 20.00, with tickets on sale online here for 11 euros including costs.
Sunday November 23
10.00 to 12.00: Zumba masterclass in the fiestas marquee.
12.00: Holy Mass at the parish church of San Francisco Javier.
13.00: Try the delicious local speciality of Pastel Cierva in the Plaza de España, accompanied by music from Orquesta Nosotros.
Thursday November 27
20.00: Historias Inquietantes with Félix Albó at the winter theatre in Parque Almansa. Admission free of charge.
22.00: Pyjama Party at the fiestas marquee with music from Javi Pérez DJ, a 360º video camera and prizes for the best pyjama costumes.
Friday November 28
22.00: Talent show in the fiestas marquee.
Saturday November 29
ROCK VILLA SAN JAVIER, admission free at the fairground, with music from Lomo de Perro (12.00), lunch (a portion of paella and a beer for 5 euros at 14.00) and Kanelaje (16.30).
The fiestas marquee opens to continue the event at 18.00, admission 10 euros to be donated to the APAMM charity. The musical schedule is as follows:
18.30: Malavergüenza.
20.15: Darknoise.
21.45: Kavando a pala.
23.50: Boikot.
Sunday November 30
9.00: The San Javier mile running race, starting and finishing at the fairground.
11.00: Bikers’ breakfast to raise funds for Julián, a young boy fighting cancer.
16.00: The Peña "La Que Hemos Liado" celebrate their 10th anniversary with music from El Gran Salva Gascó.
Tuesday December 2
19.30: An offering is made at Mass in the church of San Francisco Javier.
22.00: Live music from Orquesta La Mundial in the fiestas marquee.
Midnight: Vivas are chanted and firecrackers set off at the fairground to mark the start of the Saint’s Day.
Wednesday December 3, the Feast Day of San Francisco Javier and a local holiday in the municipality
8.00: Music in the streets performed by the Banda Sinfónica de San Javier.
11.30: Holy Mass in honour of San Francisco Javier.
13.00: The tradition concert by the musical band of the Spanish air force Officers’ Academy at the Winter Theatre. Admission free of charge.
16.00: Live music from Conecta2 in the Plaza de España while afternoon coffee is served courtesy of Cafés Il Trovatore.
18.00: Evening Mass at the parish church is followed by the traditional procession of the figure of San Francisco Javier through the streets of the town.
When the procession ends it is followed by fireworks in the Plaza de España.
Thursday December 4
17.00: Afternoon celebrations with a snack for children and music from DJ Stephan.
Friday December 5
23.00: Live music from Seguridad Social at the fiestas marquee, admission free of charge.
Saturday December 6 (a national holiday in Spain)
From 10.30: The fiestas groups begin preparing their annual paella, with members of the public welcome to join in the conviviality.
16.00: Reggaeton battle between Jesús de Manuel and Dr López.
23.00: Live music from Despistaos, admission free of charge.
Sunday December 7
12.00: The annual “Pasabares”, a bar crawl!
17.00: Live music from La Otra Oreja.
19.00 to 2.00: Salsa music.
Monday December 8 (another national holiday in Spain)
16.00: Participants in the traditional float parade gather at the Mar Menor secondary school.
17.00: The parade sets out on a route which follows Avenida Mar Menor and Avenida Aviación Española to Parque Almansa.
The fiestas end with a concert by Los Happys and the final firecrackers.

The municipality of San Javier has three main offices giving tourist information to visitors, as well as two information points. The tourist offices are located in Santiago de la Ribera, on the ground floor of the town hall in San Javier and at the start of La Manga. There is also a summer tourist information point located on the seafront in Santiago de la Ribera as well as one at kilometre 12-13 of La Manga del Mar Menor next to Playa Mistral.
Due to its location on the fringes of the Mar Menor and Mediterranean, San Javier has a period of intense summer tourism activity during the peak summer months, although it is popular with retirees of all nationalities out of peak season.
Tickets for the annual San Javier Jazz Festival can be purchased at the Festival office in San Javier Town Hall, Plaza de España.
