Paseo Maritimo and Puerto Deportivo, Puerto de Mazarron

These areas are busy in summer and are a popular place to eat in the Puerto de Mazarrón

The Paseo Marítimo and the Puerto Deportivo in the Puerto de Mazarrón run along behind the beaches of Rihuete and Puerto, offering a long shaded walkway lined with shops and restaurants.

Although the whole area is joined into one long leisure space, they are often referred to as being two completely different locations.
The Paseo Marítimo basically refers to the long pedestrian walkway, lined with palm trees to provide welcome shade during the day and the Puerto Deportivo to the area which opens up into a large open plaza in front of the marina.

Both of these are lined with restaurants and shops, a focal point for summer visitors and busy, buzzing places during the summer months, with a wide variety of food, snacks and drinks available throughout the day and evening.

The older restaurants are at the far end of the Paseo, heading down towards the Playa Alamillo, and the newer ones in the Marina area. This has become very popular with expats as many of the restaurants have stylish modern seating and sunshades, with views across the beach.
Further down the Paseo, a cycle lane has been installed between the actual bars and their outdoor seating, resulting in a long walk for waiters and a loss of atmosphere, although the restaurants are still busy.

Parking can be found in an underground carpark by the marina or at the far end of the Paseo by the bowls and fishing clubs. The car park is best accessed by driving from the El Alamillo beach along the seafront and through the narrow street running behind the Paseo. Trying to access the carparking from the centre of the town can be a bit hit and miss sometimes, whereas entering from the far end is always easier.

Driving on past the car park there is some parking in the residential area at the far end of the marina, but this is very limited during summer months and it’s far safer to pay for the carpark .
