ARCHIVED - Rail chaos: Malaga-Madrid AVE passengers endure excruciating delays due to breakdown
Travellers travelling from the Andalucian station to Spain's capital suffered two-and-half delays

Early morning rail travel was thrown into chaos and confusion for passengers on an AVE train from Malaga to Madrid when travellers were delayed for two-and-a-half hours due to a breakdown.
The lengthy hold up was caused by a catenary breakage on the Madrid-Puertollano train that occurred near the province of Toledo on Tuesday morning, January 18.
Some passengers complained about the lack of information given and the "chaos" they encountered on arrival in Madrid.
Many missed connections with other AVE trains and others complained they missed work meetings, medical appointments and even court cases.
Dozens of passengers were on their way to the capital for the International Tourism Fair (Fitur).
Álvaro Pérez Bonmatí was on the AVE that left María Zambrano station at 8.58am for Madrid. It should have arrived at 11.56, but pulled up in Atocha at around 2.30pm, some two and a half hours late.
"We had been travelling for little more than an hour when the train stopped for the first time at Villanueva de Córdoba. We didn't move for about an hour; then, after resuming the journey, the carriage stopped several more times," he explained.
Another passenger, Pérez Bonmatí, said the experiece was "overwhelming", particularly as he and a group of fellow travellers were on their way to Madrid for a meeting of the 40 clubs of the RFEF Football Federation, which they were unable to attend.
"If you go for leisure and you have nothing to do there, the only thing you lose is time, but we were going urgently, and like us, many other professionals were in a hurry, people with meetings, or lawyers with trials," he added.
