Rain, storms and falling temperatures: Andalucia weather forecast Mar 25-31
Easter week in Andalucía will sadly be much colder with a good chance of rain and even storms
Weather outlook on Thursday March 28
After a fairly mild and hazy weekend, the weather forecast for the next few days in Andalucía is looking very unsettled and changeable, with multiple low-pressure systems moving in from the Atlantic.
On Palm Sunday, a DANA formed near the Canary Islands, leading to heavy showers and thunderstorms accompanied by hail and mud. Temperatures dropped significantly, with a sharp decline of 8-10°C, returning to wintry values.
The instability continues into Holy Week, with successive storms entering the region from the Atlantic, carrying colder air masses and west winds. Rain is expected to be persistent on Monday March 25, with snowfall in the mountainous regions above 1000-1200 metres.
It remains unclear when and where these low-pressure systems will impact, but they are anticipated to move in from west to east.
Tuesday morning March 26 is expected to bring the first front, followed by another more active system Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. These systems will bring rain and strong gusts of wind, with temperatures remaining low.
Wednesday March 27 is forecast to be rainier in the eastern half of the community, while Thursday March 28 will see a slower-moving front enter through western Andalucía, bringing more rain to these provinces.
Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday will see continued rainfall throughout central and western Andalucía, with additional frontal systems penetrating the rest of the region.
Overall, the weather forecast for Easter week is a lot more unsettled than we would have hoped. Most areas will experience at least some drizzle and showers, if not outright storms, which could put a damper on the Semana Santa celebrations in Andalucía.
