ARCHIVED - Renfe extends train services across Andalucia from May 31
The train company is adding 11 trains to its existing lines from May 31 in a bid to bring service figures nearer to their pre-pandemic levels.
As tourists begin to make their way back to Andalucia, Renfe has announced it is adding more services to its current schedule, making it easier for travellers to visit some of the region’s most popular cities.
The company is putting 11 trains back into circulation from May 31, boosting the number of services it offers between Sevilla and Malaga, Cordoba, Granada and Cadiz.
The move will bring the number of services it offers back to between 75 and 85 per cent of the numbers before the pandemic, improving the Sevilla-Cordoba, Sevilla-Malaga, Sevilla-Bay of Cadiz, and Sevilla-Granada lines.
The number of passengers using Andalucia’s train services took a major hit during the pandemic, when travel was restricted and health measures meant lower numbers of passengers were permitted to travel at any given time due to the need to impose social distancing measures on board.
Andalucian officials are now expecting a welcome return of tourists again this summer however, especially after UK travellers were once again allowed back into Spain, and bodies across the region have been preparing to receive the visitors.
