Storm Claudia is bearing down on Spain as we speak, threatening wind gusts, torrential downpours and that dreaded muddy rain caused by dust carried in from North Africa. But luckily, Alicante will escape the worst.

 

The weather maps produced by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) for the next few days are something to behold: storm clouds hover over most of Spain but one small slice of the country can expect mostly sunny skies and hardly any rain: Alicante.

 

While the rest of Spain battens down the hatches on Thursday, Alicante need only contend with partly cloudy skies Light easterly winds will carry in some dust though, especially in the afternoon.

 

Minimum temperatures will rise slightly while a the height of the day, the mercury will continue to swing between 23ºC and 25ºC.

 

Friday will start out quite overcast but there should be plenty of bright spells by late afternoon, although some dust will remain in the air. Temperatures will dip inland with few changes expected along the coast.

 

However, southerly afternoon breezes could make it feel it bit cooler in coastal areas.

 

Saturday is the only day that rain threatens. The skies will become cloudier as the hours go by and come afternoon, there’s a chance of light showers in northern Alicante which could spread further south. Few changes are expected temperature-wise.

 

Overnight showers should have cleared before dawn on Sunday, giving way to partly cloudy skies with sunny spells throughout the day. Night-time temperatures will start to fall while the day will feel colder in the south of the province.

• Thursday November 13: Min 11ºC; Max 25ºC
• Friday November 14: Min 13ºC; Max 24ºC
• Saturday November 15: Min 12ºC; Max 24ºC
• Sunday November 16: Min 14ºC; Max 24ºC
