Sendero Azul gentle walking route from Cartagena port to Cala Cortina
The “Sendero Azul”runs alongside the port and past the docks
The Sendero Azul del Puerto de Cartagena is a gentle coastal walking route which runs from the Yacht club (next to the cruise ship port) on the main waterfront in the city down to Cala Cortina, the nearest urban beach to the city centre.
En-route it passes alongside the old fishing port, the navy docks of La Curra, the lighthouse of La Curra and alongside the military batteries guarding the entrance to the port before reaching Cala Cortina.
It’s a predominantly urban route, running alongside the main road which leads from the ports into the Escombreras Industrial area, but does offer excellent views out across the bay and showcase the marine activities of the city.
There is parking alongside the beach for those who would like to start the route from the beach, or underground car parking beneath the port. If you prefer to park and not pay or have a camper van, then it’s easy to park near to the bottom of the main wall alongside Calle Gisbert or drive up to the large parking area near to the Polytechnic buildings and old bullring.
