The town in Malaga known as ‘Little Germany’ will have twice as many tables and chairs this year, by popular demand
Torrox Oktoberfest 2021
From September 22 to 25, the town of Torrox on the Costa del Sol is preparing to celebrate what Mayor Óscar Medina has described as “the best Oktoberfest in its history”.
Torrox is the municipality in mainland Spain with the highest number of German residents, known to some as ‘Little Germany’ and according to Mayor Medina is the place “where German tourism was born in Spain”.
“This summer has been historic thanks to the influx of tourists and this September, the outlook is even better in terms of foreign tourists, especially Germans, but also Nordic, North American and Asian,” said Medina, who is very proud that “countries around the world are seeing in Torrox a municipality to come all year round”.
A new feature of the German Oktoberfest beer festival in Torrox this year will be the dramatic increase in seating capacity, with organisers putting out double the number of tables and chairs, as requested by locals and visitors alike.
This is the eighth edition of Oktoberfest Torrox, and it will take place between September 22 and 25 in the Avenida Esperanto in Torrox Costa. The programme of activities for this Oktoberfest will include live music on all four days of the festival, plus “more beer than ever”, as promised by the Councillor for Trade and Development, Sandra Extremera.
There will be a wide variety of brands of German beer and craft beer tastings, while they will be serving typical German food such as pork knuckle and sausages. There will also be a children’s play area and a marquee will be set up to provide shade if the weather is hot.
Councillor Extremera has encouraged all residents and visitors to come to the opening of Oktoberfest 2022 on September 22 and, “if you have the opportunity, come dressed in typical German dress”.
