ARCHIVED - Serbian fugitive wanted for drug offences found teaching boxing in Malaga
The drug trafficker arrested in Mijas Costa was attempting to avoid a jail sentence in his home country
A fugitive on the run from authorities in Serbia after being convicted of drug trafficking and facing four-and-a-half years in prison, has been arrested in Mijas Costa, where he was teaching boxing classes.
The exact details of his offences has not been disclosed, or when he was sentenced, but a European Arrests Warrant was issued earlier this year after the fugitive fled the country and lengthy enquiries indicated he was in hiding in Málaga province, specifically the Mijas area.
After brief surveillance, investigating officers discovered he was giving private boxing classes at a sports centre in Mijas Costa, and he was arrested as he left the building on October 5.
It was confirmed he was indeed the criminal wanted by Serbian authorities and he was placed before Fuengirola Examining Magistrate's Court this week, which ordered he be remanded in custody "to guarantee his extradition to Serbia".
