Seven more arrested in ongoing crackdown of Seville Airport taxi mafia
The investigation into a criminal network at Seville’s airport continues to unravel, with the total number of arrests now reaching 25
On Thursday January 30, 2025, seven individuals were arrested as part of a continuing police operation targeting a mafia-like network controlling taxi services at Seville Airport. This brings the total number of arrests to 25 since the operation began earlier this year.
The individuals arrested are believed to be part of a larger criminal group involved in overcharging passengers, intimidating drivers, and forcing taxi operators into illegal arrangements. The network's activities had gone largely unnoticed until authorities launched their investigation.
This latest round of arrests follows a previous operation on January 9, which saw 18 people detained in connection with the same criminal network. During the earlier phase, police uncovered a series of fraudulent practices at the airport, including deals between some taxi drivers and members of the group.
The impact of the operation has been significant, not only disrupting illegal activities but also highlighting concerns about the regulation of taxi services at major Spanish airports.
The ongoing operation continues to disrupt the criminal activities at the airport, and authorities are expanding their investigation to understand the full scale of the network. While the police have assured the public that they are taking control of the situation, questions about the regulation and oversight of taxi services at the airport remain.
With the total number of arrests now at 25, it’s clear that this investigation is far from over, and authorities are working to eliminate this criminal network and ensure fairer taxi services for all.
