Seville home of footballer Sergio Ramos robbed while his kids were inside
The sprawling estate was targeted during the match between Sevilla and French team Lens
On Wednesday September 20, Sergio Ramos became the latest LaLiga footballer to be targeted by home invaders when thieves stole into his La Alegría estate, in Bollullos de la Mitación in Seville. Ramos, widely regarded as one of the greatest defenders of all time, was playing the first match of the Champions League group stage against Lens when the house was burgled.
Ramos’s wife, Pilar Rubio, wasn’t at the property either, but their four children and their babysitters were inside. Thankfully, none of them came to any harm at the hands of the robbers. Nevertheless, the thieves somehow managed to evade the extensive security devices installed at the 44-hectare finca and made off with luxury watches, jewellery, designer clothes and cash.
Guardia Civil are trying to track down the thieves, who have yet to be identified.
Footballers are becoming increasingly common targets and this is actually the second time Ramos was robbed. Back in 2012, his home in the Madrid district of Conde Orgaz was broken into, but he and his brother René managed to scare the burglars away before they could grab any loot.
His Real Madrid ex-teammate Casemiro and fellow Sevilla player Suso have also been the victims of robberies, as have well-known sporting rivals like Joaquín and William Carvalho.
